WILD MAN EQUINOX GATHERINGS

Seasonal Rites for Men

20–22 March • 18–20 September

Three-day, in-person men’s gatherings held on the land at Sacred Grove, aligned precisely with the Equinox.

About the Gatherings

The Wild Man Equinox Gatherings are seasonal rites marking moments of balance and turning in the natural world.

At the Equinox, day and night meet. The land shifts. What has been moving outward begins to change direction. These gatherings exist to meet that moment deliberately and in brotherhood.

Men are invited to step out of momentum and back into alignment with land, body, and responsibility. The work is embodied, grounded, and relational—guided by season, elemental contact, and the presence of other men walking the same threshold.

These are not retreats, workshops, or performances.
They are seasonal rites.

Why the Equinox

In traditional cultures, men were initiated in time with the land.

The Equinox marks a true threshold—neither ascent nor descent, but balance. When a man enters rite at this moment, he is not creating meaning. He is responding to something already moving.

Here in the South, the:

  • Autumn Equinox (March) turns attention toward consolidation, release, and inner structure.

  • Spring Equinox (September) turns attention toward emergence, direction, and right action.

Each gathering meets the specific quality of its season. Together, they form a complete circuit of descent and return.

The Shape of the Three Days

While inner rites are held with discretion, the overall movement is simple and exact.

Arrival
Men step out of ordinary time and into the field of the land. Attention settles into the body. The group begins to cohere.

Deepening
The central work of the rite unfolds. Men meet effort, truth, and witness in alignment with the season.

Return
What has been encountered is gathered and carried back toward life. Men leave with clarity that can be lived, not explained.

Brotherhood becomes a reality.

Who These Gatherings Are For

These gatherings are for men who:

  • sense the absence of real rites of passage in modern life

  • value presence, responsibility, and direct experience

  • are capable of silence, effort, and being witnessed

  • feel called to meet the seasons consciously

  • feel the draw of balanced, masculine brotherhood

They are not designed for spectators or seekers of entertainment.

They are for men ready to cross a threshold and return changed by contact.

Place and Container

The gatherings are held on the land at Sacred Grove in the Knysna Forest.

Spaces are intentionally limited to preserve depth, coherence, and safety.

Details and costs are shared directly with men who enquire.

This is deliberate and part of how the work is protected.

We will work on ourselves, together, and then share the results of our work."
